(CNN Spanish) - The Bolivian government minister, Arturo Murillo, read at a press conference on Tuesday a letter addressed to former President Evo Morales and the candidate of his Movement for Socialism party, Luis Arce, accusing them of launching " called to create political violence in Bolivia ”and asks that“ their priorities change ”.

The letter referred to the protest mobilizations on Monday in the department of Cochabamba, where protesters blocked a bridge and the police intervened with tear gas. The mobilized responded by throwing stones.

Murillo read the letter sent to Arce as the representative of Morales in Bolivia, and addressed to both, in which he says: "For you, Mr. Morales and Mr. Arce, unfortunately the priorities are not the health or the economy of families, nor the aid bonds that the families receive. For you, the priorities are to promote the coca business in the Chapare and to do politics, defending it with violence if necessary, your political interests and supporters (sic) ”.

Later in the letter, Murillo addresses Morales and says that "in regaining power, I tell you that you will have your chance as soon as the health emergency passes, because after the emergency we will have elections and your candidate Arce will be able to compete freely in a transparent and democratic process, and yes, it will have to beat us. ”

Hours later, the bench of the Movement for Socialism in the Chamber of Deputies (MAS) of the Legislative Assembly ruled on the note. "The MAS bench of the Chamber of Deputies rejects and condemns the letter that the Minister of Government, Arturo Murillo, sent to former Bolivian President Evo Morales through the presidential candidate Luis Arce Catacora. They state that this letter makes false accusations to distract public opinion about the various critical problems that the country is going through, such as corruption, repression of the Kara Kara - Cochabamba residents, violation of human rights and lack of capacity to confront the coronavirus. "

Former President Evo Morales is currently in Argentina as a political refugee.
