"Very nice lunch." This is the opinion of one of the participants of the meal which took place this Thursday at the Elysée between Emmanuel Macron, Gérard Larcher, the President LR of the Senate, and Richard Ferrand, his counterpart (LREM) in the National Assembly . According to our information, the Head of State first specified that no decision, whatever its nature, would be taken before a new health point to be held in early June.
The President of the Republic, however, announced to his hosts that the economic recovery plan would be defined in late June or early July as part of an amending finance bill. An extraordinary session will therefore take place in the Assembly and the Senate.
Municipal on the menu
The head of state then, according to his hosts, "listened". Gérard Larcher particularly insisted on the necessary adaptation of future health, economic and "societal" stages, depending on the territory. On municipal elections, the President of the Senate also reaffirmed his position: full respect for the law passed on March 23. Or a second round - which was to be held on March 22 - postponed no later than the end of June.
A decision which, according to the senator, is up to the government, and to him alone, to take, by decree on May 27 after the opinion of the Scientific Council of May 23. However, if the government decides to postpone this second round, for example, in September, a new law would then have to be passed by Parliament. The three highest personalities in the state - along with the Prime Minister - decided to talk again very quickly.
