More accidents with fewer injuries, more drug and significantly more sex offenses, but fewer property offenses. This is the summary of the Miesbach police statistics for 2019.
Miesbach - The new Fischbachau Mayor Johannes Lohwasser can be happy. People live most safely in his community. The relative number of crimes is the lowest in the area of responsibility of the Miesbach Police Inspectorate (five municipalities plus the city of Miesbach). The local police leadership recently checked the town halls for security talks. In pre-Corona times there had always been a mutual discussion in the inspection.

The data show a mixed picture. While the total number of crimes in the service area of PI Miesbach declined - it fell by 48 to 1,472 - there was an increase in some areas. For example with sexual offenses. For the first time since 2015, the police registered an increase over the previous year. In 2018 there were still 14 cases reported, last year there were 27. The number of drug-related offenses also skyrocketed - from 132 to 175. The numbers in this area depend heavily on the police's control activities. And that was intensified in 2019, as it says in the police press release. There was a further increase in so-called crude offenses. They rose by eight (previous year: 15) to 254 actions. There were some significant declines in the areas of wealth (403 cases), property (220) and vandalism (143) - hence the overall lower crime rate. Of course, it is always a matter of known offenses. The number of unreported cases can only be estimated. The police identified 933 suspects in 2019, the clearance rate was above average 70 percent (district: 68.9). Positive: An (attempted) homicide is not known.

In traffic accidents, the police recorded an increase of 1.83 percent to 1060. In 150 of them (minus four), there were injuries, a total of 188. An accident on the motorway ended fatally for a nine-year-old boy in October. The accident analysis report is not yet available, as a request from our newspaper showed. It was the only fatal accident in the PI Miesbach area. 47 people were seriously injured. This was mainly due to unsuitable speed, non-observance of the right-hand driving command, errors when turning or something similar, and an insufficient safety margin. Because particularly high speeds lead to serious accidents, the police will continue to carry out targeted checks, especially on known dangerous routes. In 2019, officials complained about 1026 drivers, 15 of whom were banned from driving.

The number of alcohol-related accidents remained constant in the past year, namely at 16. Four people were seriously injured and ten were slightly injured. The alcohol offenders at the wheel had an average of 1.6 per thousand, the sad peak value was 3.06 per thousand.
