The explosion of a car bomb costs the lives of at least five people in eastern Afghanistan - the second attack in a matter of days. The country does not come to rest.
Kabul (dpa) - Two days after the serious attacks in Afghanistan with more than 50 deaths, civilians were killed again in the east of the country.
At least five people were killed in a car bomb explosion outside a military building in the capital of Gardis, Paktia province, the Ministry of Defense said on Thursday. At least 19 people were wounded. Photos in local media showed a completely destroyed house front. The militant Islamist Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
On Tuesday, unknown persons stormed the birth department of a clinic in Afghanistan's capital Kabul and opened fire on mothers with their newborns. It was one of the most serious attacks this year. At least 24 people were killed. Dozens of other people were also killed in a suicide attack by the Islamic State (IS) terrorist militia on a funeral service in the east of the country.
President Ghani then ordered the army to go on the offensive again. At the same time, he called on the militant Islamist Taliban to renew the ceasefire. Because of planned peace talks, the Afghan army has been on the defensive since late February. The militant Islamist Taliban described Ghani's announcement as a "declaration of war".
