The corona crisis hits the municipalities financially hard. But this is not only noticeable in terms of trade tax revenue. The changed meeting locations also incur costs - in Herrsching they even have four digits.

Herrsching - The expected income from trade tax will collapse due to the corona crisis. This can be assumed. At the next council meeting in Herrsching on Monday, May 25th, everything will revolve around the current budget, savings of five million euros. "Everything is under scrutiny," says Mayor Christian Schiller, "Corona is expensive." This also applies to the meetings of the local council. The constituent assembly in the Nikolaushalle last Monday, for example, cost around 8,000 euros.

"The effort is great," says Schiller. But there is no other solution. In Herrsching there are people who take everything very carefully and are not afraid to go to court. The mayor commemorates the objection of a ruler and an exiled municipal council at the last meeting of the past parliamentary term, which had objected to insufficient gaps between the people (we reported).

This session had taken place in the smaller Martinshalle and, due to the necessary audio equipment and beamer, devoured around 4,500 euros. In the large triple gymnasium, the cable routes are longer and darkening is not possible, says Schiller. "For example, we needed a high-speed projector in the constituent session," he explains. The working hours of the building yard, caretaker, administrative staff and security service are not yet included in the costs.

The meeting dates are also reduced because many decisions of the local council were transferred by the new body to the building committee with only nine members including the mayor last Monday. This can continue to meet in the town hall. "The distances are then sufficient," says Schiller. The agenda on May 25, however, could not be transferred to the building committee, the topics were too important for that. As mentioned, it is about savings of around five million euros in the current budget, but also about the rules of procedure. Topics of the building committee would also be dealt with, so its date was canceled next Monday.

"On May 25, the effort is a bit less," says Schiller, since technology and furniture do not have to be dismantled. This will not continue, however, because in June the sports high school exams are due in the Nikolaushalle. "We expect that no meeting will take place in June," says Schiller.

In Herrsching there are other alternatives, but they are not available, says the mayor. The house of Bavarian agriculture is being expanded and needs its own room. The financial school has too few rooms and too many students - so there is no space for guests. “The next alternative would be the 1.25 hall of the junior high school. It will be torn down soon. "The other small hall is needed by the school itself." If the cultural hall in Andechser Hof remained, "it will be tight again".

"We are not making fun of it," assures Schiller, who does not want to make himself vulnerable and therefore adheres exactly to the orders of the Interior Ministry. But he also reminded that the constituent meeting with an expanded microphone system due to the swearing-in ceremony and with voting booths for the election of the deputy mayor was particularly complex. "We no longer need that now." The costs for the next council meeting in the Nikolaushalle would still be between 6500 and 7000 euros.

Schiller hopes that another council meeting can take place before the summer break, "we have a lot of stuff". But the hall floor renovation is due in the Nikolaushalle. This should have taken place during the Pentecost vacation, but is definitely due. "The clubs want to start training again in autumn." A dilemma. The municipal council meeting on May 25th starts at 6 p.m. due to the extensive agenda.
