The Buchenau train station has not yet been officially inaugurated after its barrier-free renovation, and there is already trouble with graffiti and garbage. The building yard knows the problem, but is overworked because of the Corona crisis.
Fürstenfeldbruck - Ugly smearings on the walls of the underpass, countless cigarette butts and a lot of garbage on the bike racks: The pictures taken by a Tagblatt reader at the Buchenau train station are truly no ornament. “When the groundbreaking, everything was fine, after the completion everything is fine,” says the reader. "The new station only cost 17 million euros."
Even with the bike stands, unknown people have already left a lot of garbage behind
Even in the city, there is little enthusiasm about how quickly the new structures and systems fell victim to property damage and garbage deposits. "The graffiti was there just a week after completion," says Walter Doll from the city's civil engineering office. This is responsible for the cleanliness of the underpass and the bike stands. The contracted construction company was also horrified. Because the construction yard can only work with half the staff due to the Corona crisis, nothing could be done at the moment. "But the order for it is now out," says Doll.
The graffiti will probably not be removed from the building yard anyway. Special means are needed for this. "That usually makes a contractor," explains Doll.
By the way, according to the civil engineering chief, larger trash cans to deal with the waste deposits are not a solution. "With larger containers, people even throw in their household waste." Then the buckets are quickly overfilled.
In general, Doll is discovering more and more property damage and pollution throughout the city. "It is increasing significantly, people are thinking less and less," he says. It is therefore also to be feared that the graffiti at the Buchenau train station will soon be renewed as soon as they are removed. Doll says it is difficult to quantify how much damage the city has suffered as a result of the current incidents. "All of this is included in the ongoing cleaning work." But the costs are not low.
Video surveillance to deter the perpetrators in the future is not legally possible. The city will bite the bullet and will continue to have to repair such damage and pollution at its own expense - and thus at the expense of taxpayers.
