More than 4.5 million cases of new coronavirus have been officially declared worldwide, including nearly three quarters in Europe and the United States, according to a count made by AFP from official sources Friday at 8:30 p.m. GMT.

At least 4,503,811 cases of infection, including 305,424 deaths, have been recorded, especially in Europe, the continent most affected with 1,848,790 cases and 164,145 deaths, as well as in the United States (1,432,045 cases, including 86,851 deaths).
However, the number of cases diagnosed only reflects a fraction of the actual number of infections, with a large number of countries testing only serious cases.
