Brussels / London (dpa) - The European Union and Great Britain made little progress in the third round of negotiations on their future relations.
This was announced by British negotiator David Frost and EU negotiator Michel Barnier on Friday. Both expressed disappointment and accused the other side of missing movement.
Negotiations are taking place on trade and partnership agreements. Britain had left the EU at the end of January. There is a transition period until the end of 2020, so that nothing has changed in everyday life. If no agreement is reached within this period, a hard economic break threatens.
Both sides had planned to make tangible progress by June. Then the decision is pending whether the transition period may be extended. Great Britain has so far strictly rejected this. Another round of negotiations via video conferencing is planned for the week from June 1st.
