How digital can it be? How long should the sessions last? These were just two topics that the newly elected Rotterdam City Council dealt with at the first meeting.

Rott - The issue at the recent Rotterdam council meeting was the introduction of a third mayor, who had not previously existed in the Lechrain community. "Until now, when the first or second mayor was prevented, the longest-serving municipal council, that would be Herbert Ruf, stepped in," explained the new mayor, Fritz Schneider. After a short discussion, the panel agreed to maintain this approach with a 9: 4 majority, with the four representatives of the new list voting against.

After that, Schneider's deputy was very clear: ten councilors voted for Sabine Blank as the second mayor. Florian Rauch took over her previous position as secretary, who brought up the digitization of the council meetings. A part of the committee was able to get used to the paperless form with invitations by email and meeting documents on the tablet or laptop. A final decision has not yet been made.

Session times in Rott are changed

When discussing the new rules of procedure, the Rotterdam Panel agreed on some changes. The majority of the mayor's authority was increased from 3,000 to 4,000 euros. The session times have also been changed. At Markus Rieder's suggestion, they will start at 7:30 p.m. and not at 8:00 p.m. In addition, they should be finished by 11 p.m. at the latest. The summons to the meetings, which were held four days earlier, are now said to be at the local councils one day earlier.

However, there was no change in the attendance fee, which continues to be 40 euros, and in the compensation for the town hall chief and his deputy. The mayor continues to receive 290 euros in allowances and 200 euros in travel expenses. The monthly compensation for the second mayor is EUR 255, and in the event of a substitution, EUR 127 is due from the third day.
