Munich - It was sad news for many fans of the  "Eurovision Song Contest" when it was clear that the world's largest music competition could not take place because of the corona pandemic . ARD shows ESC replacement "European Shine a Light"

After the last four and a half hour ESC final, this year's consolation show on ARD should only last two and a half hours from 9 p.m. Because both the usual awarding of points and the winning song will be dropped this time. "The live show from Hilversum in the Netherlands honors all those who would have performed at the ESC in Rotterdam this year," said a spokesman for the NDR from the broadcasting network ARD. A replacement program has already been taken care of: "In the 150 minutes there are switches across the entire continent, lots of music and some surprise appearances by former ESC participants -"

Before the show, moderator Barbara Schöneberger will warm up the mood at 8.15 p.m. In Hamburg, together with guests like Ben Dolic , who would have represented Germany at the ESC, and the former ESC participant Michael Schulte, she can ring  the “countdown” in the pre-show of the same name  . The highlight of the replacement show will presumably be when the 41 intended interpreters of the ESC 2020 will sing the 1997 Eurovision winning song together: "Love Shine a Light", which is also the name of the show. A week earlier, the ARDim broadcasting station One and also broadcasting the broadcast “World Wide Living Room - the ESC Semifinals 2020” as a live stream. Despite the replacement shows, however, the audience does not seem entirely satisfied.
