A new roof, new toilets and much more: The club home of football friends shines in new splendor. A nice gift for your 50th birthday.

Geretsried - The sports clubs also suffer from the restrictions caused by the corona pandemic. For the soccer friends Geretsried (FFG) the situation is doubly annoying. Not only is the training and game play suspended indefinitely, as is the case everywhere, the 50th anniversary celebration of the club, which was to be celebrated in July, does not take place. "We have already postponed that to July 2021," says FFG board member Patrick Verbaast.

Verbaast not only takes note of the current sporty standstill but also "enjoyable occasions". Because on the occasion of the round birthday of the soccer friends, the city of Geretsried, which is also celebrating 50 years of the city survey this year, has started the thorough renovation of the club house on Robert-Schumann-Weg.

"The necessity was well known, and now there was a wonderful reason for it," explains Thomas Loibl, press officer for the city of Geretsried. After the athletes had often taken on the role of painter and paint themselves in the past few years, for example to give the cabins a new coat of paint, handicraft companies from the region are currently giving themselves a hand, so to speak.

"That was urgently needed," says board member Verbaast of the slightly deteriorated condition of the building. The toilets, which originated from the early days of the clubhouse built in 1985, have now been gutted. "The sanitary installation was completely renewed," reports Loibl. New partitions have been installed in the toilets, there are now four urinals in the men's toilet, so far only one hung on the wall.

The most striking feature of the renovation measures, which cost around € 100,000 in total, is the new roof, which, in addition to bright red tiles, has also been given contemporary insulation. "This also saves energy," reports Loibl. This probably also applies to the lighting, which is still being converted to LED. In addition, the locking system will be renewed, including the gates around the site. FFG board member Verbaast states with satisfaction: “They worked very quickly.”   Rst
