The endosperm agriculture department estimated the governorate production of lentil crops at 203 tons for the current season, within the cultivated areas of 5160 dunums.
The Director of Agriculture in Sweida, Eng. Ayham Hamid, stated in a statement to SANA correspondent today that the reality of the crop for the current season is good as a result of the appropriate conditions for its growth to begin harvesting operations that are manual during the next few days, indicating that the cultivation of lentils in the governorate is rainfed and depends on rainwater and is concentrated in the Shahba and parts From the West As-Suwayda region.
Eng. Hamed pointed out that support was specified from the Agricultural Production Support Fund for each acre planted with lentils at 1,500 liras, provided that the owners of the cultivated areas possess agricultural regulation documents issued by the Directorate of Agriculture.
The governorate of Sweida produced last season 165 tons of lentils.
