Hama-Sana
The General Authority for the Management and Development of the jungle in Hama Governorate allocated an area of 760 hectares for cultivation of watermelon crops, in both red and yellow varieties, in the lands under the supervision of its work during the current agricultural season.
Engineer Wafik Zarrouf, director of plant wealth in the authority, stated to a reporter to SANA that watermelon cultivation of both red and yellow types received good demand from the jungle farmers due to its short production cycle, low costs and the existence of a drainage market for it, especially since the lands of the region are suitable for growing this crop, indicating that all the requirements of this cultivation The crop is available from seeds, fertilizers and water for irrigation.
Watermelon cultivation is widespread in the lands of the Al-Ghab region in the northern countryside, especially Shatha, Jurin and Ain Al-Krum.
