Traffic accidents decreased during the period of application of the curfew due to the Corona pandemic compared to the same period last year, as the number of accidents during the month of April reached 427 accidents resulting in the death of 18 people and the injury of 193 others, while the total number of accidents recorded for the month of April last year was 686 accidents According to the Ministry of Interior statistics, 53 people were killed and 396 injured.
The statistics of the ministry, which SANA obtained a copy of, showed that 181 accidents recorded during April 2020 caused physical damage, 246 accidents caused material damage, 373 recorded accidents in April last year caused physical damage and 313 accidents caused material damage.
In a statement to SANA, the Director of the Traffic Department at the Ministry of Interior, Major General Mamoun Al-Amouri said that the Ministry is making great efforts to reduce traffic accidents in all circumstances by improving the services provided by the traffic facility in light of the Corona pandemic, pointing to the importance of the role played by traffic officers in implementing the ban Vehicle roaming approved by the government team on Coronavirus response measures has had a positive impact in alleviating traffic accidents and traffic violations.
Al-Omari stated that the commitment of citizens to the rules of traffic regulations and commitment to the times of the embargo reflect a civilized image of them in respect of the law and its sovereignty.
