Two crows are not happy about life in Munich after the corona loosening. They built their nest on Neuhauser Strasse - and defend their brood.

  • After the corona loosening, life returns to Munich's pedestrian zone.
  • Two crows feel disturbed and attack people.
  • Apparently the birds only want to protect their young.

Munich - The situation is somewhat reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock's horror classic "The Birds": crows that attack people - until blood flows at some point. In Neuhauser Straße at number 12 , two crows with claws and beaks have been defending their cub for a few days . It goes so far that passers-by suffer bloody injuries . The police briefly secured the area with a barrier tape, but now nobody seems to feel responsible anymore - except for a few animal rights activists who keep watch over the day, shivering in the rain.

"I spoke to the police and fire brigade, but nobody wants to do anything," says animal rights activist Petra Kern (61). The Munich woman received e in barrier tape from construction workers who are currently working at the construction site at the old academy next door and quickly narrowed down the area herself. "The two crows only want to protect their cub, who is sitting there on the ground and is not yet able to fly," she explains.

Animal rights activists fear that the crows will be shot

The raven birds are pretty ruthless. Construction worker Thomas Ritzinger (48) reports: “I saw the birds pecking at a woman with their beaks. Afterwards she bled on the head! ”Kern and her animal protection colleagues are now afraid that the city could have the crows shot to protect people. "Someone from the fire department said that a hunter had been alerted," says the teacher, dismayed.

She suspects that it was because of the unusual calm due to the corona measures that the crows had brooded in a tree in the middle of the pedestrian zone. "Otherwise they would never be so stupid," says the 61-year-old.

At the request of our newspaper , the city has given the all-clear . Nobody intends to shoot the birds. “Probably, the black rook cub will be able to fly this week. Then the attacks stop, ”says Johannes Mayer from the district administration department. The hunting authority would now ensure that the area around the bird chick is secured with a barrier tape . When that happens is still unclear. Until then, the animal rights activists on site continue to keep an iron watch.

A passerby took photos of suspected MVG employees using a pistol to kill pigeons. The transport company faces the allegations.
