It won't be boring: the potholes expected for the new government

What is happening to me? I wondered as a tear or two wet my cheeks. I experienced such a burst of emotions in June 1977, when Menachem Begin's first government was sworn in. For the first time, a government was formed in Israel at the time when the focus of the government was absent from the Labor Party, formerly the ally, formerly Mapai. For speeches, the ominous slogan was wiped out: a government "without freedom and MKI".

May 2020: Ministers will again be sworn in, the 35th government. This time no tears will flow, certainly no age tears. Will voters in the 2019 and 2020 election campaigns rejoice in the result? Not sure. It is a government born of sin, the result of vow violations. The exchanges between opponents (former, and possibly future) are still fresh. The exchange of beatings is underway in the radio and television archives, the recordings are ready for retransmissions as a weapon in front of rivals for the next showdown.

This past year has deepened the abyss between citizens and leadership. The damages are enormous, and it is doubtful they will go away anytime soon. Will the skyscraper set up for the rotation order hold up? Two potholes should be noted en route to the exchange between Netanyahu and Gantz. In a few days, Netanyahu's trial will begin. He, or one of his attorneys, will declare: I will not admit.

This event could have an impact on the public. What voices will be heard? Voices louder than those we've heard over time? Will the discussions begin with indifference? In days we will know. The additional pothole is the stated intention to apply sovereignty in the valley and parts of the Judea and Samaria area.

Although, this should be done in the spirit of the agreement between the two components of the coalition. But this teacher is rich in political explosives, which could shock government stability. There is reason to believe that Netanyahu will indeed give way to Gantz, but all signs indicate that (again) it will be boring. And that, in the spirit of the Chinese curse: have an interesting life.
