With the participation of 45 doctors and pharmacists, the activities of the Syrian International Virtual Pharmacy Conference held by the Pharmacists Syndicate were launched in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, where the lectures of the participants are broadcast via the YouTube channel and the Facebook page of the conference.
Pharmacists, doctors from the Ministry of Health, the Higher Commission for Scientific Research, professors from pharmacy colleges in public and private universities, a medical education program at the Syrian Virtual University, a number of private scientific and pharmaceutical activities, as well as a number of Syrian lecturers residing abroad, will participate in the conference, which lasts until May 20. The lectures of the participants through the YouTube channel and the Facebook page are displayed on the first two periods from four in the afternoon until seven in the evening and the second from eight in the evening until ten in the evening, where the doctor or pharmacist gives his lecture and the followers interact with them by asking their interventions or their questions through the comments, according to the statement of the technical supervisor of the conference, Dr. Mahran Kiwan For Sana delegate.
Dr. Kiwan said that the communicators were contacted and the participation was recorded via an electronic form, which is the first experiment for such conferences and it has a great role in increasing the number of participants and followers compared to traditional conferences in addition to achieving the goal of preventing gatherings in the framework of the precautionary measures taken to address the Corona virus.
The conference lectures include information about the Corona virus, methods of detection and immune response to it, and the protocols of proposed treatments globally, either pharmacologically or by serum, highlighting the developments and developments related to the production of a vaccine for the virus in different countries, epidemiological investigation, the clinical status of the patient and its development, methods of prevention, the use of antiseptics, and the role of pharmacists as a first line of defense in the face Virus and awareness of the citizen's role in dealing with the spread of infection.
In a speech to her during the opening of the conference, the Syndicate of Syrian Pharmacists Dr. Wafaa Al-Kishi reported to the role of pharmacists this period in tackling the virus through their work in their pharmacies, hospitals, pharmacies, scientific research and in voluntary work to serve the community and provide support and medical advice and provide medicine and sterilization means.
Dr. Al-Kishi considered that the virtual conference is in line with the preventive measures that the government team working on the strategy to tackle the Corona virus is working on, as the conference aims to benefit from national experiences in Syria and abroad and Arab experiences and the use of technology to communicate the information in the correct form to each interested.
For her part, Dr. Jamila Hassian, Secretary General of the Scientific Association of Faculties of Pharmacy in the Arab World and Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Damascus University, drew attention to the importance of holding the conference during this period, which is considered the first of its kind in the region, reviewing in its lecture the measures taken by the Faculties of Pharmacy during the suspension period of universities ’time following government measures Precaution to address Corona Virus in terms of compensating students ’educational losses, publishing lectures on its websites, inviting them to perform their educational and informational role in society, and participating in scientific research on Corona that opened the Ministry of Higher Education and Research Scientific w section to share it.
Dr. Majd Al-Jamali, professor of biotechnology at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Damascus, Director General of the Supreme Commission for Scientific Research, pointed to the importance of the conference as a virtual environment that achieves the desired goals of disseminating medical knowledge among the participants, highlighting in his lecture on the method of treatment of Covid 19 disease, emerging with blood plasma taken from patients recovering from The virus, especially those who have severe symptoms, through the technique of "phlebotomy", which means the separation of blood components, where the plasma is taken during the recovery period of the recovered, because it contains antibodies to the virus that can be used by new patients or to protect people working in hospitals.
