An investigation was opened to determine the circumstances of the death of an 18-year-old boy in a motorcycle accident that occurred on the night of Saturday to Sunday in Argenteuil, near a police car, according to the prosecution of Pontoise.

He died of his injuries on Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. at the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital in Paris, the prosecution said, confirming information from the Parisian .

An investigation into a fatal traffic accident was opened and entrusted to the Val-d'Oise departmental public security department. An autopsy was also requested.

At the time of the accident, a team from the Ermont anti-crime brigade (BAC) was traveling in this same suburban neighborhood and "crossed" the young man on his motocross, said a police source. "The police had neither a flashing light nor a police sun visor and were not planning to control it, but perhaps the young man identified them and panicked," said the source. The LAC then continued on its way and "backtracked when it heard a loud noise" . The police vehicle "has no impact and must be assessed at the request of the prosecution," said another police source.

At the scene, where traces of the accident were still visible on Sunday, a witness who only identified himself by his first name, Abou, told AFP that "the bumper of the police car was been hit ”. "We scared him, that's why he went up on the sidewalk, we barred the way," according to this young man, who says he was then down the street.

Other residents met by AFP also accused the police of being responsible for the accident. For Idriss Camara, mediator in the city of Argenteuil, the young man "was a seasoned driver" and would not have lost control of his motorcycle without being forced to do so.
