Much of the population believes the government's Corona measures are appropriate. This was the result of a survey by the ZDF Politbarometer. A politician slipped in the poll values.

  • As a representative survey by ZDF  showed, a large part of the population approves of the government's corona measures
  • However , the upward trend in the Union came to an end on Sunday
  • A CDU politician was also severely punished personally in a poll .
  • Here you will find the basic facts about the corona virus * and the corona news from Germany. We also offer you the current number of cases * in Germany on a map. The following recommendations for Corona protective measures * are currently available.

Berlin - At least as far as survey values are concerned, the Union is seen as a major beneficiary of the corona crisis . After the party, which still has no new chairman after Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer's resignation, has lost more votes to AfD and the Greens in recent years, things have looked better in recent weeks.

ZDF Politbarometer: A clear majority of the population considers corona measures to be appropriate

Even with the measures * during the Corona crisis * , the Union and its coalition partner SPD get backing from the population. Although several demonstrations against the government's requirements have been announced throughout Germany today , a representative survey by the ZDF Politbarometer shows a completely different mood.

66 percent of those surveyed completed the sentence "State corona measures now in force are ..." with "just right". 15 percent were even of the opinion that the measures were “too weak”, while only 17 percent considered them to be “excessive”. In addition, 81 percent of those questioned are not worried that the restriction of fundamental rights will be maintained permanently. Accordingly, only 19 percent fear a permanent restriction.

Surprise with popularity ratings of politicians - top CDU politicians are punished

As usual, the ZDF Politbarometer also presented the current poll values of the parties at federal level , which were collected by the research group elections. These show that the upward trend of the Union has been stopped for the time being. The CDU / CSU are 38 percent (-1) , the Greens are still in second place with 18 percent (+/- 0) , ahead of the SPD with 15 percent (-1) . Both AfD posted slight gains with 10 percent (+1) and the left with 8 percent (+1) . The FDP is still in an uncomfortable situation , with 5 percent (+/- 0) of the situation now having to worry about entering the Bundestag.

The popularity ratings of top German politicians are also always interesting . Here, too, the representatives of the government parties were particularly distinguished. The top 3 is led by Angela Merkel . It gets a value of 2.6 on the scale from -5 to +5 points (April: 2.6). It follows  Markus Söder  (2.1, formerly 2.0)), and Olaf Scholz (1.9, 2.0 formerly). It is somewhat surprising, however, that NRW's Prime Minister Armin Laschet was punished significantly. It comes to a value of 0.6 - in April it was still at 1.0. The CDU politician clearly lost favor and ended up in eighth place. Only Friedrich Merz (0.0) and Christian Lindner (-0.3) did even worse. This development is particularly interesting with a view to the CDU chairmanship. Because both Laschet and Merz are promising candidates for the successor to AKK.
