The Secretary for Education Yang Runxiong asked the HKEAA to cancel the examination questions related to the history of Sino-Japanese relations in the history of this year's HKDSE. After discussion, the committee agreed to cooperate fully with the Education Bureau's review Question preparation mechanism; As for the abolition of the examination questions in Article 2 of History Section, the spokesman said that if a final decision is made, it will be announced as soon as possible. The Education Bureau responded late at night that representatives of the Education Bureau also attended the meeting. At the meeting, members discussed issues related to the examination questions and whether there is room for improvement in the current question preparation and examination mechanism. The Bureau emphasized that the HKEAA is a statutory body. The “Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority Ordinance” stipulates the Chief Executive ’s various powers to supervise the HKEAA, including the appointment and dismissal of members of the HKEAA Committee, approval of business plans, and budgets for revenue and expenditure. The Chief Executive may also issue general instructions to the HKEAA on the performance of functions in this regard for matters that it feels have an impact on the public interest. The HKEAA shall observe the Chief Executive ’s Regulations.
