An astronomical envelope of 500 billion euros in subsidies to be shared between the territories and the sectors most affected by the coronavirus crisis. The unprecedented Franco-German proposal and the ripple effect it could provoke among the Twenty-Seven is a relief for Ursula von der Leyen, who is due to present on May 27 his comprehensive plan to boost European economies, namely a stimulus fund and a revised European budget for the period 2021-2027.

The President of the Commission did not fail to greet the proposal from Paris and Berlin, forgetting a little quickly that a few weeks ago she was working on scenarios in which the amount of the subsidies was reduced to the bare minimum: 100 Billions of Euro's.
