Since November last year, applications have been accepted to allow qualified owners to rent out the entire unpaid premium unit to those in need. The Housing Society revealed earlier this month that only one transaction was recorded in the past six months.
However, according to the latest Legislative Council document, as of yesterday (18th), the plan recorded two more transactions, for a total of three transactions.

According to the documents submitted by the Housing Authority to the Legislative Council, as of May 18, the HS has received applications from 311 landlords and 506 tenants, of which 230 landlord and 243 tenant applications have been approved.
The document also states that there are currently three transaction cases recorded, and the owners and tenants of 13 cases have reached the final stage of the upcoming lease agreement.
The Housing Society launched a pilot scheme in September 2018 to allow owners of unpaid units to sublease one of the bedrooms to those who are waiting for public housing for at least 3 years, but the response was cold. Until the optimized version was launched in October last year and applications were accepted from the following month, the HA joined the scheme in a trial form, and allowed qualified owners to rent out the entire unpaid unit.
