The Syrian Grain Branch in Daraa has performed the necessary maintenance work for the two marketing centers in Izraa and Sanamen in preparation for receiving the grain season starting next month.
The director of the Syrian Grain Branch, Eng. Issam Al-Sayasna, stated in a statement to the SANA Economic Bulletin that the grain centers are ready to receive the wheat from the farmers after performing the necessary maintenance operations and preparing the laboratories and warehouses, and everything related to facilitating the receiving process.
Al-Sayasna pointed out that taking all measures to receive the wheat crop and that storage will be done according to each variety in order to receive the full quantities in a way that secures the requirements of the next agricultural season and the needs of mills and public and private ovens.
In turn, Anwar Al-Fawran, head of the silos unit in Izra, confirmed with a similar permit that all technical installations in the silo have been completed, starting with the qabban, through hydraulic levers, transmission lines and reception pits, indicating that the practical storage capacity is about 85 thousand tons.
For his part, the head of the farmers union in Daraa, Mithqal Al-Qasim confirmed that the reality of the wheat crop is good and that no injuries or diseases have been recorded to date, indicating that the promotional price from the state will push farmers to hand over their entire production, noting that rainfalls and the state of security and stability during the agricultural season 2019-2020 contributed to improving the reality of cultivation The main crops in Daraa.
According to statistics of the Directorate of Agriculture, the area planted with irrigated wheat reached 9,450 hectares this season, bypassing the planned plan of 8,831 hectares, while the area planted with Baal wheat was 68,500 hectares, out of the planned plan of 76,112 hectares.
Daraa governorate is developing a plan to fight crop fires in the beginning of the harvest season in partnership with all government departments and institutions by distributing tanks to agricultural areas and mobilizing the fire and civil defense regiment and identifying manholes and gases that supply the mechanisms with water and fuel.
