Originally, bikers from the central police station in Mulhouse were carrying out a simple roadside check when they spotted a driver who seemed not to be of driving age. Faced with the latter's refusal to stop, despite repeated requests from the police, a chase started.

“The driver headed for the Drouot district. The police called in reinforcements, and quickly the BAC, the anti-crime brigade, was chasing the fleeing vehicle. Several vehicles of the section were also involved, awaiting the passage of the fugitive, " says DNA again. The motorist then rushed voluntarily onto three parked police vehicles, slightly injuring an officer in a van. However, the driver continued on his way before hitting a safety barrier.

The 16-year-old driver and his passenger were arrested and taken to the police station to be taken into police custody. Both are unharmed. According to DNA , no explanation for this hit and run has yet been given. The intervention mobilized an important system of the SDI, the departmental intervention section.
