The former chairman of D & G Hong Kong was charged with corruption of 1.77 million yuan in commissions to sell season-end shirts to online stores by the ICAC

The Independent Commission Against Corruption sued Italian fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana Hong Kong ’s former chairman Michel Didier Raymond Gonzalez, and the operator of a mainland fashion online store. The two were charged with three counts of conspiracy to make agents accept interests, violating the “prevention Section 9 (1) (a) of the Bribery Ordinance and Section 159A of the Crimes Ordinance. The two defendants appeared in West Kowloon Magistrates' Court this (21st) afternoon. Gonzalez, then chairman of D & G Hong Kong, was suspected to have received three illegal commissions totaling approximately HK $ 1.77 million from 2013 to 2016 as an arrangement to sell D & G's end-of-season clothing to the mainland online store. It is worth more than 12.6 million yuan.

According to the Independent Commission Against Corruption, Michel Didier Raymond Gonzalez, 54, was the chairman of D & G HK at the time of the incident. The company distributes products under the "Dolce & Gabbana" brand in Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region, namely clothes, leather goods, shoes, accessories, jewelry and watches . Jiang Jiafeng is the operator and major shareholder of Meida.com Hong Kong. The company operates a brand-name fashion trade. Another defendant, 42-year-old Jiang Jiafeng, is the operator of the closed Meida.com (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. (Meida.com).

In the case, one of the online stores selling multiple international brands "End of Season Goods".

One of the charges was that Gonzalez and Jiang Jiafeng were suspected of conspiracy with another person between August 1, 2013 and January 14, 2014. Without legal authority or reasonable excuse, Gonzalez received an illegal rebate of HK $ 400,000 from Meida.com Hong Kong as the incentive or reward for Gonzalez to sell the inventory of D & G HK to a mainland company operating an online specialty store. The company sells multiple international brand "season end" products, including "Dolce & Gabbana".

The second charge is that Gonzalez and Jiang Jiafeng were suspected of conspiracy with the above-mentioned person from July 30 to September 2, 2014, for the same purpose to make Gonzalez without legal authority or reasonable excuse from Meida Online Hong Kong received an illegal commission of more than RMB 770,000 (equivalent to more than HK $ 962,000).

The remaining charge is that Gonzalez and Jiang Jiafeng were involved in the conspiracy with the above-mentioned person from January 1, 2015 to February 23, 2016, and for the same purpose, Gonzalez without legal authority or reasonable excuse, from Meida.com Hong Kong has received an illegal commission of over HK $ 400,000.

The "Dolce & Gabbana" brand "end-of-season" products sold to the aforementioned mainland company reported a total value of more than HK $ 12.6 million. Gonzalez and Jiang Jiafeng were charged with three counts of conspiracy to make the agent accept the interest, violating Section 9 (1) (a) of the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance and Section 159A of the Crimes Ordinance. The two defendants appeared in West Kowloon Magistrates' Court this afternoon.
