The Würmtal gets three new bookcases. Two are to be built in Planegg and another in Krailling next year. The bookcases in other communities are well received.

Würmtal - At Neurieder Marktplatz, Gräfelfinger Bahnhofsplatz, at the Planegger pilgrimage church Maria Eich, in front of Gautinger Insel and in the summer pool, in front of the office of the parent-child program in Stockdorf and at Pasinger Rathausplatz: There are already a number of bookcases and boxes in the Würmtal and refrigerators. There is also a showcase on private property at Lochhamer Jahnstrasse 44. In addition, the municipality of Planegg would like to set up two more in the underground car park on the market square and in front of the Martinsried primary school. "The two telephone booths were originally supposed to be delivered in the first quarter at the earliest, which was delayed due to the corona," explains town hall spokeswoman Martina Sohn. Now it is unclear when the delivery will come.

Location planned in the new center in Krailling

The municipality of Krailling will install a bookcase there next year as part of the creation of the new town center. FBK local councilor Dietlind Freyer-Zacherl in particular had long been committed to the construction of the cabinet, which was then planned in the second draft of the town center. "The design of the cabinet is also designed to match the town center," says city hall spokesman Alexander Broschell. The municipality finances the closet.

The bookcase concept is simple: citizens can put books there and take out others for free. Volunteers regularly check that everything is in order. “Overall, things are going well for us,” says Ralph Krommes, who, together with around half a dozen other volunteers, looks after the book box at Gräfelfinger Bahnhofsplatz and also had the idea. The box in the niche, in which a telephone booth used to be, “is always well filled and is very well received. The initial idea that Graefefinger had a lot of books at home has come true, ”says Krommes. One problem was that some people were not keeping order, for example placing whole boxes in front of the cupboard, placing books on the cupboard or on top of other books. Krommes: "This is a no-go for me, which is why I put another sign there." Finally Krommes had to muck out the box because it was overcrowded. But this was the exception.

Colorful mix on the shelves

All in all, the books are mixed: besides novels and non-fiction books, there are often children's and English books on the shelves. “Three months ago, a lady asked me why I removed her books from the closet. Of course I didn't, but the books were so popular that someone took them with them within a day, ”says Krommes with a smile.

The local association of the Greens donated the bookcase on Neurieder Marktplatz, which is a redesigned telephone booth, two years ago. "I usually check the closet once a week, every two days for the past two months," says Uta Hirschberg, who takes care of it. Because even the new lowers obviously had a lot of time to sort out during the strict exit restriction, the closet was often overfilled. “If this is the case, I take books home and use them to fill up the closet when it is empty. At the moment I have two moving boxes in my warehouse, ”says Hirschberg.

In addition to all genres and foreign language books, "there have been a lot of children's books in the closet in the past few weeks," reports Hirschberg. Hirschberg always takes out CDs, DVDs and other things that are not books, so that this does not become a DVD cabinet at some point and experience has shown that such things are hardly ever taken. "Overall there are always a lot of people in the closet, we think that's nice."
