"5G is not an emergency for France: let's postpone the allocation of frequencies"

TRIBUNE - It would be desirable to postpone until the end of 2020 or the beginning of 2021 the auctions aiming at the allocation of 5G frequencies, argues Martin Bouygues, the CEO of the Bouygues group.


The Covid-19 epidemic led to the suspension of the 5G frequency allocation procedure: the auctions, which were to take place this spring, were postponed to July or September. I think we have to be pragmatic: the situation in the country, which is recovering with difficulty from a terrible human and economic health nightmare, requires postponing the allocation of 5G frequencies by a few more months. I call on the government and the regulator to consider the following points when making this common sense decision.
