Because of the corona virus, "Let's Dance" has been going on for a long time without viewers. The show is nearing the finals and the security measures have to be tightened again.

Because of the corona virus, "Let's Dance" has been going on for a long time without viewers. The show is nearing the finals and the security measures have to be tightened again.

  • Even TV formats are not spared from the corona virus
  • Let's Dance has been a ghost show for several weeks.
  • Before the quarter-finals and now also the finals  , Corona once again thwarted the show .

Update from May 22nd: The Corona virus has already led to some changes to  "Let's Dance " this year to make it possible to continue the current season. Finally, there was a rule change in the quarterfinals (see below); now the security measures have been tightened even before the last show of the RTL dance competition. As the picture reports, Lili Paul-Roncalli , Luca Hänni and Moritz Ha ns had already on Monday before the grand finalewould have to undergo a corona test. Allegedly, the results of all three "Let's Dance" finalists were negative, so that the candidates were only allowed to start rehearsals.

"Let's Dance": Rule change in the quarter-finals - dance mode is changed

Update from May 6 : The 13th finale of the popular dance show "Let's dance" is getting closer. Five celebrities are still in the race - or rather dancing - and are trying hard to overcome the next hurdle: the quarter-finals. A peculiarity introduced in the last season for this milestone must be removed from the program again this year or at least be suspended. Because the current regulations because of the corona virus put a spanner in the works. But the creators of the show have come up with something new.

"Let's Dance" (RTL): Corona is again putting stones in the way - fourth final will be different

For the second performance of the stars in the quarterfinals there was a special feature in the last game: They called them " Trio Dances" . That meant that the celebrities were not only allowed to dance with one, but with two professional dancers . Because of Corona, such a trio is of course not possible in the current seasons, as RTL announced. There is now an innovative solution from the "Let's dance" team. In pairs, the star and dancer can go to the  "Challenge Dances"

The challenge in the “Challenge Dances” will be a prop. The dance couples must incorporate these into their performance. Well, then let's hope that the team on the show will not be inspired by the ideas of its moderator Daniel Hartwich when choosing the items: he would like to see the stars dance with a lawn mower. It will be exciting to see how the remaining five celebrities will do in the challenge.

The different props raise questions * on Twitter.

"Let's Dance" (RTL): Show deleted from Friday program - broadcaster explains why

Update of April 11: The Friday evening is for everyone  "Let's Dance" fan almost a fixed date. The dance show heralds the weekend in the usual rhythm - actually. RTL changed the program last Friday

Instead of the celebrities dancing, the spectators had to make do with the  "Let's Dance" judges * . Motsi Mabuse, Joachim Llambi and Jorge Gonzalez remembered their most beautiful moments from the last 13 seasons in a highlight format

Most recently, however, it was Joachim Llambi who started a rage speech in front of cameras.

"Let's Dance" (RTL): Show canceled on Friday - program cancellation was long planned

However, fans can rest easy. "Let's Dance" was not removed from the program due to concerns about the corona virus . The show continues on April 17 , just as the broadcaster had always planned.

On Good Friday we pause with the current # LetsDance season, instead you can look forward to the nicest moments of the jurors pic.twitter.com/eyL2eH3Afz

On April 11th there was no dancing for a simple reason . It was Good Friday . In Germany on a silent holiday, the show would have been inappropriate.

However, fans of the ZDF “dream ships” can look forward to a new episode on Easter weekend. However, many of them still don't really see their new captain Florian Silbereisen as a fur seal. The criticism makes acting and Schlager colleagues Wolfgang Fierek angry.

"Let's Dance" 2020 (RTL): Whirlwinds over shooting ban because of Corona - Is RTL dance show threatening to end?

Update March 20, 11:41 am: It gets even more drastic. Friends and family of the Dancing Stars cheered in the audience last week - but even this week is no longer allowed. That means: Laura has to dance without Wendler this week - just like the other candidates with their dance partners also have to do without support.

Likewise, the space in the waiting area of the stars should be larger. Usually everyone is sitting very close together, cheering each other on and hugging. There should now be a larger safety distance here.

But despite all of these precautions, Let's Dance has been heavily criticized because the dance show in Austria has already been completely canceled. That could possibly also blossom for the German counterpart - especially since the presenter Victoria Swarovski had acute suspicions of corona. One of the candidates even drops out today: John Kelly had an illness in the family *. Let's Dance airtime has changed. Meanwhile, Luca Hänni has also commented on the love rumors with his dance partner. Motsi Mabuse did not make headlines with rumors of love, however, but with other piquant statements about romance.

In contrast, candidate Laura Müller may have been faced with a new competitor far from the floor.

"Let's Dance": Whirlwinds over shooting ban because of Corona - Is RTL dance show threatening to end?

Update March 19, 2020, 2:40 pm: After the third "Let's Dance" episode already took place without an audience out of fear of the further spread of the corona virus , a ban on filming is now causing a stir. Because the city of Cologne, which is located in the Coronavirus stronghold of North Rhine-Westphalia and in which the TV broadcaster RTL is based, sent a letter on Monday, according to DWDL.de, which stated, among other things, that  filming of all kinds by April 10 2020 are to be refrained from and already granted permits lose their validity. According to the report, the letter caused many TV professionals to be at a loss .

No more "Let's Dance" because of Corona? City of Cologne gives the all-clear

But all fans of TV shows like DSDS, "The Masked Singer" and "Let's Dance", all of whom are already being shot in Cologne without an audience , have now been given the all-clear . A spokesman for the city of Cologne said: “Only the personnel that are absolutely necessary for TV production are permitted. Then there is no event in the sense of the general decrees issued and the Infection Protection Act. ”The TV shows must therefore continue to do without an on-site audience - but may still be filmed.

RTL therefore resorted to an emergency solution that many viewers did not like.

Does the corona crisis have anything to do with the record ratings of "The Masked Singer"? That would be a plausible explanation for this. But now the popular singing show has to be interrupted. There were two corona cases.

"Let's Dance" because of corona virus without viewers

Update March 13, 2020, 9:28 pm: The third episode of the TV dance show “Let's Dance” on RTL started on Friday evening due to the corona virus without viewers. It was a program for the whole family, said moderator Daniel Hartwig at the beginning of the program, "and for the current occasion we have taken this motto very seriously". After the state of North Rhine-Westphalia banned events with more than 1,000 spectators on Tuesday, the TV station decided to almost entirely forego the audience. Only a few friends and family members of the twelve remaining dance couples sat on the otherwise empty stands of the TV studio in Cologne.

Update March 13, 2020, 9:15 am: More and more events and recordings on TV are taking place as ghost shows. RTL had already announced on Thursday that the dance show “Let's Dance” would take place without an audience. And the DSDS is also affected by the measures. The casting show will take place on Saturday instead of only 800 spectators in front of completely empty seats, the dpa reported. ProSieben and ZDF are now following suit.

"Caution is the best protection against Covid 19. Until further notice, we are now producing all shows without an audience," announced ProSieben on Twitter.

Caution is the best protection against # Covid_19. For the time being, we are now producing all shows without an audience. This applies to the recordings for # JKvsP7 on Friday and Saturday in Munich. For #SleepLoses on Saturday. And for #LateNightBerlin and #TheMaskedSinger.

- ProSieben (@ProSieben) March 12, 2020

Both the public hit "The Masked Singer" and "Late Night Berlin", "Whoever sleeps lose" and the popular show "Joko and Klaas against ProSieben" are affected by the decision

And ZDF also reacted to the corona crisis. "Maybrit Illner", "Aspects" and "Das current Sportstudio" are recorded in front of empty seats. But also satire formats like the "heute-show" , "Die Anstalt" and "Mann, Sieber!" have to do without the laughs from the audience in the near future. Because here too the new rules on audience exclusion apply, as well as for "Anne Will" or the "NDR Talk Show".

"Let's Dance" (RTL) becomes a ghost show - but the ban does not apply to Wendler

Update March 12, 2020, 6 p.m .: RTL is now reacting with a consistent measure because of the danger from the corona virus. On Friday the RTL dance show  "Let's Dance" will take place in the hall without an audience. Just like the live show  "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" (DSDS) on Saturday.

"This means that the broadcasting group is fulfilling its responsibility to protect the public and contributors from possible infection with the corona virus, even without a specific ban," RTL announced on Thursday. The measure applies "until further notice". Friends and family of show protagonists are excluded.

After “Let's Dance” in Austria: Are German stars also threatened to be banned from dancing?

Cologne - Austrian “ Dancing Stars ” are already informed: The Austrian counterpart to “Let's Dance” is temporarily suspended due to the corona virus. Because in Austria all indoor events that gather more than 100 people are prohibited.

RTL has now responded to the message from the Austrian broadcaster ORF with an explanation. Many fans can breathe easy for now.

RTL gives coronavirus all-clear for "Let's Dance"

"In Germany, however, different rules apply when dealing with the corona virus," says the broadcaster. Major events are only prohibited in North Rhine-Westphalia, the place where the show is produced,  from 1,000 viewers. So this does not apply to the dance show on RTL. The private broadcaster gives his fans the all-clear. "Let's Dance" is taking place as planned.

The audience may also be there. "But we are constantly monitoring the situation." Ultimately, the decision was not in the hands of the broadcaster. The local authorities and health authorities decide whether and how many people are admitted to upcoming events , according to the TV station.

RTL reacts for "Let's Dance": "Corona Bump" instead of Bussi greeting

If the preventive measures are tightened, RTL will of course implement them. In an emergency, that would also mean that the shipment could be canceled. In the "Let's Dance" studio, precautionary measures such as a Bussi waiver are already being taken. Instead, there is a " corona bump " - Po to Po is better than hugs.

However, it would not have been particularly surprising if "Let's Dance" had to be canceled. ZDF has already canceled new episodes of the Fernsehgarten program  . The risk is too high due to the corona virus.

The new season of "Let's Dance" on RTL started on February 21st. Stars compete with their profit partners every Friday . All information about the program, candidates and the jury is available at tz.de.

Jury member Motsi Mabuse , however, shocked her colleague Joachim Llambi in the last show

And Joachim Llambi unpacked about his youth in the Ruhr area.

Wendler daughter Adeline Norberg posted a picture on Instagram - users scoffed at a photo mishap.

The call for an end due to the corona crisis is now even coming from within the company: a professional dancer has commented on the lack of security measures on the part of the broadcaster. This then spoke up.

The corona crisis is currently also a matter of private concern for “Let's Dance” stars. Motsi Mabuse bursts into tears in front of the camera and speaks from her perspective about this troubled time.
