Surfing on the enormous success of "The Last Dance" devoted to the Bulls dynasty of Michael Jordan, the ESPN chain announced Thursday that it was starting another documentary series on the American football star Tom Brady, six-time winner Superbowl.
"Man In the Arena - Tom Brady" will be released in 2021, said ESPN, whose announcement comes four days after the 10th and final chapter of The Last Dance , which broke the audience record for the channel for a documentary, with an average of 5.9 million viewers.
Nine episodes for the twenty seasons in the New England Patriots, for nine finals and six titles
Available in nine episodes, the documentary will tell the twenty seasons spent by Brady in the New England Patriots, with which he won the NFL championship six times in nine finals. The quarterback who now pursues his career, at 42, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, will co-produce the documentary directed by Gotham Chopra.
"Through the series, we will define the key moments and challenges that were seemingly insurmountable, but thanks to hard work and perseverance, they have become triumphs defining a career, both in victory and defeat", a said Brady.
Seven athletes, including LeBron James, Usain Bolt or Kelly Slater in the spotlight of another documentary series
The latter will also be featured in another seven-part documentary series produced by Apple TV Plus, which will air it on its platform from July 10. The Greatness Code will highlight little-known stories and pivotal moments that have defined the careers of great athletes, to better explain why they have become the best in their discipline.
Besides Brady, NBA superstar LeBron James, the world's fastest man Usain Bolt, five-time Olympic champion swimmer Katie Ledecky, surf legend Kelly Slater, double world football champion Alex Morgan and King of Shaun White snowboard will each be the subject of an episode.
