On May 22, 2010, the blue and black team achieved the historic triplet after defeating Bayern Munich in the Champions League final, in order to add that trophy to the Serie A title and the Italy Cup. However, it was a bittersweet day for the club, due to the death of their former coach, Luigi Simoni.
