Corona protesters not only criticize the restrictions, but also often spread crude conspiracy theories. Those who have been fighting the virus for months have a clear opinion on this.

Freising - In addition to criticizing the restrictions, corona protesters are also spreading a number of crude conspiracy theories. How is this behavior received by those who have had months of hard work fighting the virus? The FT asked Oliver Hübler, Nursing Director of the Freising Clinic.

Mr. Hübler, there are currently many hair-raising corona claims circulating. One of them is: there is no corona virus at all. What does someone like you, who has faced the lethal effects of the disease for months, say about such conspiracy theories?

I wouldn't call it conspiracy theory. Because the term theory suggests that scientific thinking has taken place. But if someone negates facts, it doesn't mean that they disappear. And the fact is: we at the Clinic in Freising have neither invented the virus nor the patients we have been treating here for almost three months.

"If you walk the streets, you have to ask yourself whether Germany only consists of large families"

Many of the demonstrators feel restricted in their freedom. Do you understand that?

Freedom is a valuable asset. Therefore, I do not expect that every restriction has to be accepted without contradiction. But you also have to question to what extent I do justice to social responsibility with my actions. It is important to sound out your own selfishness and responsibility for society as a whole. In any case, I lack understanding for the hysteria that is spread by many Corona demonstrators.

The Corona demonstrations are ultimately big events. Do you see the danger that the infection numbers will increase again soon?

Naturally. I would not be surprised if there is a second major wave of infections - possibly towards the end of the year. But this has not only to do with the demonstrators, but also with many others who are also negligent. If you walk the streets, you have to ask yourself whether Germany only consists of large families. In other words, people hardly adhere to the legal protective measures.

"Responsible behavior would be a sign of solidarity"

Should there be another lockdown, would it not only be those with good taste who adhere to everything, but would the doctors and nurses also have to pay for the rising number of infections?

That's right, and it's no use to us if people stand at the window again in the evening and applaud us. While that was a nice gesture, it is not the appreciation we need. It would be a more sensible sign of solidarity with us if people were to behave more responsibly in the near future.
