Brazil reports more than 20,000 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours
The Brazilian Ministry of Health said on Friday that the country registered a new maximum of 20,803 new cases of covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases nationwide to 330,890.
According to CNN calculations, the number exceeds 326,448 cases in Russia. For now, that makes Brazil the country with the second highest total number of confirmed cases worldwide after the United States.
Johns Hopkins University has not yet updated its global coronavirus case map to reflect the new Brazilian numbers.
Brazil registered 1,001 new deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths nationwide to 21,048.
