While visiting Michigan, the American president showed the cloth mask he claims to have worn while visiting a Ford factory.

Donald Trump, his carrot complexion, his blond powder puff… but not his mask. The President of the United States said on Thursday that he sometimes wore a mask, except in the presence of journalists.

Visiting Ypsilanti (Michigan), in a refurbished Ford factory, in the midst of a coronavirus pandemic, to produce artificial respirators, visors and masks. Asked why he had decided not to wear a mask, unlike the leaders of the automaker who surrounded him, he assured that he had done it a little earlier. "I wore one [...] But I didn't want to give journalists the pleasure of seeing it," he said with irony.

"Honestly, I think I am better with the mask"

A little later, he presented to journalists his mask, without putting it on, a navy blue model struck with the presidential seal with two flat and ribbed elastic bands, white. " I love her so much. Honestly, I think I am better with the mask, "added the President of the United States, amused. Cabotin, he nevertheless wore a plastic visor at face height, which was immortalized in the photo.

This attitude made the Attorney General of Michigan react sharply, while a local decree requires any medically fit person to wear "facial protection" in an enclosed space. Trump "is a grumpy kid who refuses to play by the rules," said Dana Nessel, the attorney general - this office is elective in the United States, which accuses the Conservative president of "transmitting the worst message possible."

The automaker came to the rescue of the president soon after, claiming that Donald Trump wore a mask during his "private visit" to part of the factory. "The president then removed his mask for the remainder of the visit," said Ford.

An assertion then confirmed by an unofficial photo showing the president actually masked on the premises of the car manufacturer's site.

On May 11, after several presidential collaborators tested positive for the coronavirus, the White House imposed the wearing of the mask within it. But the president is exempt from this obligation. Donald Trump prefers to take “one pill per day” of hydroxychloroquine, in addition to undergoing a daily test. His wife Melania demanded compliance with social distancing measures in the East Wing, where his office is located, in April.

Because the balance sheet in the United States is increasing every day. An additional 1,255 Covid-19 deaths have been recorded in the past 24 hours, according to continuous counting from Johns Hopkins University. In total, 94,661 people died officially due to the coronavirus in the country, for 1,576,542 diagnosed cases (or 25,582 additional cases between 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday evening). Due to the difficulty in accessing tests for the general public, the true number of infections is likely to be much higher.
