Today, the Coast Guard of Malta saved 140 migrants who were on board a ship sank, but refused to disembark on its territory and kept them instead on board a cruise ship outside its territorial waters.
Reuters reported that a Malta patrol boat rescued the migrants after their ship entered the Maltese search and rescue area and the migrants were transferred to the cruise ship to join two other vessels that Valletta rented two weeks ago for the same purpose and were carrying 160 other immigrants.
The Maltese government has insisted that it will not allow any migrants to disembark on its territory, saying that other European Union member states have not kept their promises to accept other migrants.
