Despite compulsory containment decreed on March 16, when less than a hundred cases were identified, the country of 32 million inhabitants has recorded more than 110,000 contaminations of Covid-19 and more than 3,100 deaths since the appearance of the epidemic on March 6.

Among other measures announced, the government will reduce the curfew by one hour in Lima and in the central and southern regions of the country, where it will be in effect from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., and by 2 a.m. in other regions. Peru is now the second most affected Latin American country after Brazil (210 million inhabitants) and the third in terms of death after Brazil and Mexico (130 million inhabitants).
