The director of a primary school in Saint-Laurent-du-Var (Alpes-Maritimes) committed suicide in his establishment. He was found Saturday morning by the dead, hanged rescue team, said a source close to the file. He was 64 and expected to retire soon, Mayor Joseph Segura, who visited the site, told AFP.
He was a man " passionate about school ", director of this small establishment of five classes and 120 pupils in a rather favored district for twenty years, added the mayor. The reasons for his action have not been specified.
" He was unanimous among his colleagues and the parents of students, especially for his involvement, " said his side, the inspector of Nice academy, Michel-Jean Floc'h, also present on the scene. " He has never had any sick leave in his career ."
The school run by this man, married and father of two, had reopened on May 11 for deconfinement, with 11 students. It will remain open, with from Monday 42 students enrolled. A psychological unit has been set up.
