Today, the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources put the Continent 8 well in service with a production capacity of 150,000 cubic meters of gas per day to support power plants.
The final depth of the well, according to the statement of the Ministry of Oil, reached 3513 meters and work began on 20-5-2019, and drilling operations were completed on 4/29-2020.
The new well, whose Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources, Engineer Ali Ghanem, today inspected his final works, is part of the ministry’s plan to increase drilling and exploration operations, increase production, and compensate for losses.
Geologist Salman Ghareeb, Director of the Central Region Fields, confirmed in a statement to Lana that the new well will be subject to permanent evaluations in order to increase its productivity in the next stage, through the use of oblique drilling, pointing out that the quantity produced from the well is transferred to a continent station and then to the public gas network that connects the material To power plants.
He pointed out that the wells of some wells have been enlarged to increase their production and compensate for losses, and work is currently under way to dig several other wells to secure the needs of gas power plants.
The Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources announced last December the introduction of the Sharifa 2 and Sharifa 104 wells into production, which added approximately one million cubic meters per day of gas to the network.
