Yesterday we saw Israeli politics as it is at the end of the second decade of the 21st century. Within two weeks, the two most important events in public life, starring political leaders, occurred in the courtyards. The fateful political struggles are already barely underway in Jewish sovereignty in the Knesset, except in the Supreme Court hall, and began yesterday in the Jerusalem District Court.

The politicians, lawyers, journalists and the angry crowd - all mixed up. There are those who are comforted that there is an out-of-court scene and there is the legal arena as it is in the courtroom, and there are rules and laws and it is cut off from the crowd demonstrating under black flags or in support of the prime minister whose fate passed to the judges.

Frustration and public outrage are overflowing

Obviously there is no disconnect. It is not a democracy in action, but a democracy that is crushed and chopped by creaking gears and sodomy beds. From the moment that political life is in frameworks that do not know compromises and agreements but only judgments and rulings, the frustration and anger of the public is overflowing. Journalists and broadcasters are again sinning with the same despicable technique of blaming the public for violence that may occur to the judges - of course, because of Netanyahu's incitement. It's a lie and a plot, and it's a repeat of the disengagement script. Even then, large newspapers and television channels combined hands with certain security forces, blaming settlers in Kfar Darom and the Pentateuch that they were holding weapons, which they intended to use, and that the referring forces would not hesitate to neutralize them. All this when, for a whole year, a violent campaign is being waged against the settlers of the Gaza Strip and northern Samaria, a journey that ends with painful displacement.

So now Netanyahu has the power to fight back. Anyone who did not want to hear his speech yesterday at the Jerusalem court did not have to produce the show in the first place. Right now, the only way out of the political-legal mess is for the prime minister to trust the court's judges and do his best, along with his lawyers, to do everything necessary to prove that the charges against him are not a criminal offense.
