Police allege that at 1 p.m. this (24), demonstrators occupied the road along Hennessy Road in Causeway Bay. A number of traffic lanes were blocked, and a large number of buses and trams were unable to move forward. A large number of police officers maintained order at the scene. Some thugs threw umbrellas, water bottles and other debris at the police officers. To stop the violent acts of the thugs, the police used the minimum required force, including the use of tear gas.

The police warned the thugs to immediately stop the illegal acts of violence, stressed that they would take decisive enforcement actions to stop the thugs from disrupting social order and endangering the lives of citizens, and called on the citizens on the scene to leave as soon as possible and go to a safe place.
