Vacation despite Corona: Turkey hopes for German tourists
Update from May 24, 2020 : In March, Germany issued a worldwide travel warning until June 14 due to the corona pandemic. The borders with neighboring EU countries have so far been closed to tourists. Numerous travelers are prevented from traveling back and forth.
The global travel warning for all EU countries is to be lifted before the summer holidays. Foreign Minister Heiko Maas wants to replace this with individual travel information. How to deal with countries outside the EU is still unclear.
The Turkish government expects the federal government to lift its worldwide travel warning for Turkey before the summer holidays. Turkey is ready to receive tourists from abroad from mid-June, the Turkish ambassador in Berlin, Ali Kemal Aydin told the news agency dpa .
"It is obvious that, unlike many other countries, we have successfully overcome the Covid 19 crisis," Aydin told dpa . Turkey had previously defined the necessary precautions for safe tourism. Air traffic is already in preparation. After domestic flights, according to Aydin, flight operations are expected to be gradually expanded to include international flights before mid-June.
