Munich - On Saturday evening (May 23) a freight train collided with a truck at the north marshalling yard on a Deutsche Bahn AG site . The 59-year-old truck driver was seriously injured in the accident.

At around 10.20 p.m., the Federal Police was notified of railway accident at the Munich-North marshalling yard. A truck had driven over an unrestricted level crossing and was hit by a freight train .

Initial investigations by the police showed that two trucks were on the company premises at night due to construction work. The driver of the first vehicle, a 59-year-old from Bruckmühl (district of Rosenheim), crossed the level crossing at walking speed at 15,950 kilometers. He probably overlooked the approaching freight train, as announced by the federal police.

The train's braking system was so badly damaged by the accident that it was no longer ready to drive. Minor damage was found on seven freight wagons, the police said. The truck cab was completely destroyed in the collision. There was also damage at the level crossing, a St. Andrew's cross was torn from the anchorage.

The amount of damage is not yet known. "Passenger train traffic was not affected, only slight freight traffic in the Munich-Nord marshalling yard and on the north ring was affected.
