Now Bavarian Maritime Shipping has also been given the green light. After the Corona compulsory break, boat trips on the Tegernsee are possible again this Saturday. With restrictions.

Tegernsee - "It is a difficult time, but we are happy that we can start at all," says Michael Grießer, Managing Director of the Bavarian Maritime Industry. He had had to wait a long time for the government to give a signal, and on Thursday a visit to the shipyard in Starnberg, Finance and Homeland Minister Albert Füracker announced that people could "look forward to beautiful tours of the Bavarian Lakes from the Pentecost weekend".

In fact, at Tegernsee it is initially only the pure tours. Grießer makes it clear at the request of the Tegernseer Zeitung that one is still a long way from normal regular service . For the time being, only the two large passenger ships MS "Rottach-Egern" and MS "Tegernsee" are used on the Tegernsee.

"We have to register all passengers, and the distances must be observed," explains Grießer. Measures that force a significant reduction in capacity. There is usually space for around 250 passengers each on the two large ships; according to Grießer, a maximum of one third can go on board in Corona times. Initially, only round trips to and from Tegernsee are offered; the Rathaus-Steg there was in the early days the only mooring and departure point. "This way we can register passengers on board," explains the managing director. The departure times for the round trips without a stopover can be found on the company's website at www.seenschifffahrt.de.

Because the specifications came at very short notice, only limited driving is initially possible, Grießer makes clear. "If you want to get from A to B at the moment, you have to use the RVO buses," says the managing director. Of course, shipping is also trying to be able to offer a piece of "regular service" again as soon as possible. However, Grießer currently considers it rather unlikely that a return to normal regular traffic this season.

Instead, the Bavarian Maritime Industry continues to work on the right security concept for the Corona period. In the waiting area on the jetty and in the interior of the ships, the finance minister press release states that a mask is required. “We will also try to offer ticket sales on land,” announced Grießer. This way, passengers could get their tickets in advance. "It is questionable whether we can get this done this weekend."
