First the approval for the sports facilities and now the opening of the gymnasiums - according to Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann, sports in the district should pick up speed again.

But is that quick? We asked district sports officer Sabine Kirchmair for a situation report.

Ms. Kirchmair, after the outdoor facilities, the halls will reopen from June 8th. Do you already know how to do it?

No. We have made every effort in the past two weeks to enable sport on the school grounds and were just getting everything going. And now it's going in the other direction again. I hope we get more detailed information in the next few days.

What is the work behind it?

Many discussions within the departments, coordination of immission control, including discussions with schools and clubs and tapping the professional associations. We have also drawn up a usage agreement, which many municipalities are now also following. We conclude these with every trainer who wants to use an outdoor facility to make sure that he adheres to the guidelines. We are now kicking off this whole avalanche again, only now with regard to possible hall openings.

Which halls are open?

We cannot say that yet either, because one should not forget that the Ministry of Culture has still not released school sports and therefore the school halls, not even for final exams in sports. In addition, some of our eight district halls are not available - for school reasons.

Why do schools need gyms?

Schools are under enormous pressure during these times. Final exams, lessons, just everything runs under extreme conditions. In some cases, teaching is already taking place in shifts. After Pentecost, more and more students come back to schools. In order to keep the minimum distance, for example, you can easily move to the sports hall with the tables and chairs and teach there or carry out tests. In some halls we have exams until the end of June / July.

What is the current status of the outdoor facilities?

For example, we were able to release the outdoor sports facility at the high school and the FOS in Holzkirchen for sports operations. The occupancy at extra-curricular times is now and has started, all usage agreements have been signed. Athletes, basketball players and gymnasts are training there, for example.

The clubs' interest is huge, isn't it?

Yes, of course, I was in constant contact with many clubs all the time, including providing the chairpersons of our almost 180 clubs with information every few days. After Minister of the Interior Herrmann announced the opening of the hall, the phone no longer stood still. Everyone is very understanding. I have often heard one sentence: “Sabine, what do I have to do and do differently?” Everyone takes it with humor.
