Additional Corona infections at the Hebrew Gymnasium in Jerusalem: Seven students and 11 school staff were diagnosed with the virus. More than 600 tests were conducted today for Jerusalem high school students and tests will continue on Sunday.

Yesterday, three students at the school turned out to be blue-collar. Following their diagnosis, about 180 students and about 30 high school teaching staff were sent to isolation. Due to the continuity of contagion, it was decided to close the school for the next week and transfer the 1,150 students to the educational institution for distance learning.

Last night, two students from seventh grade and another 9th-grade student were infected with the virus, but it is unclear how they got infected. The Jerusalem Municipality has made it clear that the allegations that one of the teachers knew he was sick in Corona and nevertheless arrived at school - are not verified. Mayor Moshe Leon agreed with the CEO of Hadassah Hospital Prof. Ze'ev Rothstein that on Sunday, all 180 staff members of the school will be inspected at the Drive Complex in Hadassah Ein Kerem.

During the day, a long queue of vehicles lumbered into the entrance to the drive-in complex at Teddy Stadium in the capital, due to the corona tests it conducted for students of the Hebrew Gymnasium. "It's not pleasant at all and I hope I didn't stick around in Corona," he told Israel Today, a sophomore in high school. "It was a long queue and we waited a long time. It seems to me that after the tests, they will find that there are more Corona patients among the students. "

Every student or student came with one of their worried parents. "It's really stressful and there is a fear that there will be a serious outbreak among the students in the gymnasium," said one of the mothers. "It seems to me that the students have been returned too quickly and the consequences will be problematic."

Altogether, about 500 tests for the high school students were performed today, and on Sunday, the Maccabi Health Insurance Fund test area will be opened for the students.

"Students and staff are asked to observe the guidelines with great care and to maintain social remoteness," the municipality said.

Eric Kaplan, chairman of the parent organization in Jerusalem, told Israel Today: "Certainly returning to routine will increase morbidity and so will schools. The problem is that there is no consistency with the Ministry of Health's instructions and guidelines. On the one hand, everything is open and there is no enforcement, and on the other, students are required to stick with masks. It does not make sense. If there is a duty to masks it must be enforced in all places. The plague did not go away. Should be consistent. The students take off the masks and the teachers are not police. There is 90% attendance at schools in Jerusalem, and it was clear that after returning to the educational institutions there would be adherence. We ask that they increase the amount of tests in schools and also in kindergartens. "
