With gigabytes, when not terabytes, of memory in computers and multiple cloud storage options, there seems to be less and less reason to have an external disk at home. But not only are they still very important (for example to have a backup) but they have never been so appetizing as now.
Samsung's T7 is the most obvious proof. Announced at this year's CES in Las Vegas, this external solid-state memory (i.e. no moving parts) boasts 1050 Mb / s transfer speeds using the integrated USB-C port.
That puts it on par with the faster memories of many laptops on the market, that is, that for many users the speed will be comparable to that of any other internal unit of the computer, or even faster in some cases.
The 500GB model costs $ 110 and there are also 1TB drives for $ 199 or 2TB for $ 359. Most security-conscious also have a $ 119 encryption and fingerprint lock model.
