The United States and the United Kingdom have requested a meeting of the Security Council of the UN on a controversial security law adopted by China for Hong Kong to be held Friday late morning, we learned Thursday from sources diplomatic.

The subject will be discussed during an informal videoconference and in camera in a format allowing any member to address various issues and which China cannot in principle oppose, according to the same sources. Beijing on Wednesday opposed a formal meeting of the Security Council convened by Washington on the same subject.
