The young man died shortly before 7 p.m., one of the sources said. He died instantly, struck by train from line H of the Transilien, when he had just crossed a small pedestrian crossing on the tracks. Traffic was interrupted and the 300 passengers on the train were evacuated, the source added.
According to Le Parisien , the victim is an inhabitant of the city of twenty-four, in Montigny-lès-Cormeilles. Shortly after the collision, around 30 relatives arrived at the scene, and allegedly accused the police of causing the accident, which the deputy head of the police in the department denies. " We were there after to make the findings and prohibit access, but not before, " he said to the Parisian , while rumors, especially on social networks, evoked an involvement of the police. Witnesses interviewed by the newspaper confirm the police version.
Some nevertheless believe that this accident could have been avoided if the pedestrian crossing had been condemned, as regularly demanded by residents at the town hall. Last year, a man had already been knocked down at this crossing point. " We have been writing to the mayor for five years asking that he close it, " said a neighbor, interviewed by Le Parisien .
After this death, scuffles broke out around 11 p.m. in Montigny-les-Cormeilles, Taverny and Ermont. The clashes lasted until 4 am, according to the police source. Eight people, aged 16 to 32, were arrested in Montigny-les-Cormeilles for " participation in an armed gathering ," she added.
Projectiles and fireworks were launched at the police. Eight video surveillance cameras were degraded. Garbage cans were also set on fire in Montigny-les-Cormeilles. The windows of the town hall, the premises of the municipal police and the police station of this commune were also hit by the projectiles, said the police.
Last week, Sabri, 18, died in a motorcycle accident in Argenteuil near a police car. Several nights of scuffles with the police took place after his death.
