" The Turks are gaining ground, the Russians are retreating ": when the Libyans mention the fighting on their territory, they give the impression of being nothing more than referees counting the points. The deployment, by Moscow, of fighter planes, is the last sign proving that this conflict, opened in 2014 between Marshal Haftar and the revolutionary brigades of the Libyan West, largely exceeds the two clans.

On May 26, Africom, the US Army Command for Africa, accuses Moscow of " recently deploying military fighters to Libya in order to support private security companies sponsored by the Russian state".
