Kesselberg: Violations of prohibitions on overtaking
The winding mountain road is a magnet for bikers from the surrounding counties and the state capital of Munich, especially when the sun is shining and the weather is great for excursions. “Unfortunately, it always remains to be said that the inclined risk driver (knee slider) on his high-powered two-wheeler, despite numerous hikers, parked green areas and not inconsiderable car traffic, cannot be dissuaded from driving the curvy, sometimes difficult to see route at the highest possible speed "Says the police report. Among other things, this leads to the fact that the Kesselberg, which is limited to 60 km / h and is also prohibited from overtaking, repeatedly makes negative headlines as the focus of an accident. In addition, there is the noise pollution from which the residents suffer.
KG Motorrad was on the Kesselberg even in the evening hours on Wednesday. "The first traffic violations were not long in coming," said the police. The current ban on overtaking was violated in five cases. "A particularly dangerous overtaking was detected by the officials who specialize in motorcycles, even in the area of the side sills attached." In addition to a fine of around EUR 100, the driver also expects a point in Flensburg.
Air escapes from the tire during the check
Numerous motorcycles were also stopped. In the course of the inspection, special attention is paid to the technical condition of the motorcycles. "There are always complaints about retrofitted motorcycle parts that do not comply with the regulations of the registration law and in many cases lead to the expiry of the operating license," reports the police. In these cases, the onward journey is prevented and the motorcyclist has to take care of towing his machine.
The minimum tread depth of motorcycle tires is also criticized. During a check, the officers of the Munich traffic police noticed that the rear wheel of the motorcycle being inspected audibly lost air. This was due to the heavy wear on the tire. The air escaped completely during traffic control. The owner had to take his motorcycle to the nearest workshop on the tow truck. "The biker was still grateful. A possible fall would have cost the cyclist more than the fine to be paid, ”reports the police.
Escape from the police with a 214-hp machine
However, a 25-year-old biker from the Augsburg district was less enthusiastic about the upcoming traffic control. He tried to escape with his 214 hp Ducati. The pursuit was recorded using a video vehicle. The man was traveling at up to 140 km / h. However, the escape ended abruptly when the driver turned into an unpaved forest path in violation of the law. During the subsequent check, strong rubber tears were found on the outer treads of the main profile. "These are due to the heavy lateral stress on the tire and high cornering speeds," explains the police.
According to the officials, the driver is now responsible for his driving behavior designed for maximum speed and the demonstrable speed violations due to a prohibited motor vehicle race. The complaint will be presented to the Munich II public prosecutor.
For a holder of an A2 driving license, the trip also ended at Kesselberg. Based on the performance information listed in the vehicle registration document, the biker should have had a Class A driving license. A criminal case for driving without a license is now awaiting him. The motorcycle had to be towed.
