Today, US police arrested the CNN news crew as they were reporting directly on the protests in the city of Minneapolis over the killing of an African American by the police.
CNN reported that the police placed handcuffs at the hands of the crew, which included the reporter Omar Jimenez, who is on the air in addition to another director and photographer, who were taken to custody.
"The crew were arrested for doing their work, even though they knew for themselves what was a clear violation of their rights according to the first amendment," the CNN communications team said earlier on Twitter.
US President Donald Trump had previously described in a tweet on Twitter earlier protesters demanding justice for "thugs", claiming they were "abusing Floyd's memory and he wouldn't let that happen."
In his tweet, Trump said that he "spoke with Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz and told him that the army was with him all the way", adding, "We will regain control."
Trump's tweet drew fierce criticism from Twitter, which put the "glorification of violence" signal in its headline, saying that "Trump's tweet violated the basic Twitter rules, but he will not remove it in order to inform its fans."
And for the third consecutive day, protests against the killing of an African American, George Floyd, who breathed after a police officer installed him on the ground and pressed his neck five minutes, continued while the police station in Minneapolis dismissed the four officers involved in the crime from their work, and seven people were injured in Earlier shot during protests in Louisville, Kentucky.
